Leonor Antunes in London...
4:44 a.m.07/14/18 - To be able to transform a space into an urban jungle just with ropes, aluminium tubes and panels, with no symbolism, is a way to reclaim the materials and the skill of the artist. Leonor Antunes (Portugal, 1972) filled both floors of the Marian Goodman Gallery with her sculptures, activating the space with their scale and proportion. The artist left intricate passages in between the ropes and policarbonate plaques that hang from the ceiling, so that we can find our own way.

As we walk around the artworks, we discover the materials as part of the creative force, in addition to the shape forced by the artist. However nothing seems random and the distribution was studied to the details. Our movements are guided and so we question ourselved how are we relationg to these objects that force us to stop, move, rotate or change direction. To these simple materials the artist decided to add a very modern object: led lights in glass tubes that also hang from the ceiling.

What can we discover at the gallery? That the elements used for this installation were transformed in such a way to produce abstract structures. What we see is pure geometry.
