Chiachio & Giannone...

5:52 p.m.

Chiachio & Giannone, the hand embroidery specialists who celebrated twenty years of working together in 2024, presented an exceptional panel at ArtBasel in Miami called La Famille Dans La Joyeuse Verdure (The Family in the Joyful Greenery). The piece is based on naïve paintings of Henri Rousseau, who followed to the letter the stories about fauna and flora of the French army when it resided in Mexico. Added to this appropriation is the queer excess characteristic of Chiachio (1969) & Giannone (1964), self-portraiting themselves with their unconventional family. The monumental textile piece was acquired by collector Andrés Buhar, promoter of Arthaus, for a six-figure sum in dollars.
