To the pool!

01/09/21 - Considered provocative but at the same time fun, the temporary site-specific installation by the Nice'n Easy, the ensamble of Allison Matherly and Jeffrey Noble, occupies the entire entrance pond of the North Miami Museum of Contemporary Art (@mocanomi). As if it were a swimming pool, we see various elements related to play and rest. However, the scenario is more complex since some of the pieces show a somewhat eccentric or contradictory side and could even be described as terrifying. For example, in Life Saver a hand emerges from inside a pink floating ring as if asking for help, and in its desperation it seems not to see how close it is to the flotation element that can help it. Will the person die or be saved? The installation is called We’re All in This Together, a title that clearly refers to the current moments in relation to the global experience lived with the terrifying COVID-19. Life Saver aims to show that, in our desperation, faced with a tragic event, we cannot see that the solution could be closer than we think (the vaccine?). The other pieces in the installation lead us to think of escape or surrender solutions at the same time while navigating the fine line between humor and the mystery of human life.
