Korean videoart...

Some years ago, in Buenos Aires, we had the chance to enjoy examples of Korean contemporary art through a temporary exhibition held at the MNBA: "Peppermint Candy".  Today, such experience is repeated, but this time at the museum that houses the Fortabat Art Collection.
There, you´ll see the work of several video artists, all of them emerged since 2000, third generation of a tradition initiated by Nam June Paik.
Paik was a visionary who used video as a canvas for his art, begining a fabulous digital revolution. In fact we celebrate this year the 30th anniversary of his work  Good Morning Mr. Orwell.
The exhibition, entitled Ecos Simultáneos, tries to demonstrate the development of the visual world in Korea and the tensions between high and low technology, tradition and modernity, plus Nam June Paik´s legacy. The exhibition shows the diverses uses given to a digital medium, with great originality, such as for example the steaming box ring by artist Mioon, presented on a separated room.

The ecco between East and West is represented by one of the most outstanding artists in the exhibition: Leenam Lee, who presents two videos. In the first one, an army of ants exchanges the dress of one of the Meninas for oriental closing. In the other one, the Mona Lisa is bombed, but instead of destruction, a garden emerges...
