Munch Museum...
7:53 p.m.26/09/22 - Edvard Munch (Norway, 1863-1944) liked to consider himself a unique artist, a creator who did not belong to any artistic movement. His paintings are covered in melancholy and many of them reflect that endless winter to which his territory is subjected. But the most important thing is that it reflected the decline of bourgeois Norwegian society that hid behind a mask, covering all human miseries.

Despite being a museum dedicated to the work of Munch and bearing his name, it does not feature the famous painting The Scream in its collection. But since there are three versions of the work (a painting, a drawing and a print), one of them does belong to this institution. Obviously it deserves an isolated room with permanent guard. Munch created all the versions on cardboard and paper, therefore these paintings are very fragile, the same would not have happened if they had been painted on canvas. That is why the room is lit with very little light so as not to affect the colors of the pigments, causing the paper or cardboard to break over time. Thus, this The Scream is not exhibited continuously, to preserve it for future generations.

This museum, recently inaugurated, presents an architecture that is quite contemporary. Due to its slight inclination, it is completely organic and in accordance with the space that surrounds it. Also belonging to the permanent collection is the recently acquired "The Mother", the gigantic sculpture by the English artist Tracey Emin, which is located outside, on a small square, providing the perfect setting for this innovative building.
