Digital Art...

04/12/22 - Eternalizing the History of Art: From Da Vinci to Modigliani is the title under which the Unit London gallery displays six iconic pieces of Italian art in reproductions certified by the Uffizzi Gallery in Florence. These are digitized copies of different Italian institutions, certified by Blockchain. It is a very innovative way of bringing these pieces closer to those who intend to have and preserve paintings that will never be auctioned and that cannot be transported internationally for exhibitions, due to conservation reasons.

This exhibition of digital art is so innovative that it is still difficult for us to associate it with our usual real experience: we are in the presence of an excellent quality copy at a very high price with a virtual certification.

How would philosopher Walter Benjamin (Germany, 1842-1940) explain the aura in this case? Or is it time to go beyond the physical experience for the virtual one? Who benefits from this type of work?

Truly, the exhibition raises up hundreds of questions that the gallery owners themselves could not answer for us. What's more, our questions seemed out of context. The truth is that a new path is being opened in the cultural offer, although we still do not know if this experience of virtuality, in a few years, will be just a memory or the future of Art.
