Minimal Interventions...

"Minimal Interventions" is the name of the exhibition at the Enrique Larreta Museum of Spanish Art in Buenos Aires where three contemporary artists integrate their works into the permanent collection. For this post we chose two of the three photos of Andrea Alkalay’s "minimal intervention"

Andrea Alkalay (2019)
Technique: digital photography direct shot, manual intervention with 24K gold, Fine art printing on Hahnemúhle paper

Angkor Buddha, by Andrea Alkalay (2019)
Technique: digital photography direct shot, manual intervention with 24K gold, Fine art printing on Hahnemúhle paper

Both photos don't block the touring of the visitors, who discover them almost by chance. Both belong to her Kutho series and are black and white images of Buddhism, intervened with gold plating. And the gold is precisely the binding element with the collection of Spanish art of the museum: the religious sculptures from the Renaissance and Baroque, covered in gold, are linked to these altered images of Alkalay from the Buddhist tradition of Indochina.
