Ragnar Kjartansson in Buenos Aires...

11:39 a.m.

The Faena Art Center is currently housing a video-installation, outstandingly staged, where music surrounds the entire room. The exhibition is called The Visitors by Icelandic artist Ragnar Kjartansson (1976). The first-quality brochures explain that the artwork bewitches and submerges the audience through song, music and performance... They don't lie: the aim is achieved with effectiveness
We visitors feel like foreigners in a strange space, where even the artist himself takes part as a performer, sitting on a bathtub. A group of actors and a choir occupy nine locations on Rokeby Farm, up north in the state of New York and sing simultaneously. The song belongs to Kjartansoon's former wife and its sounds echo in the ruined mansion. According to curator Daniela Zyman, this is an “ode to feminism”, a feminine expression divided into nine life-sized video screens, in constant repetition. A must-visit exhibition...
