Vivisystem...
6:57 p.m.04/30/2025 - The term vivisystem was coined by American writer Kevin Kelly to describe the phenomenon in which machines increasingly mimic biological patterns, while human thought processes become more mechanized. For example, the complex data pathways of AI, paired with the internet, could be compared to the neural connections of the human brain, in the same way that fungi scattered among the roots of trees in a forest connect different points within that forest.
With this explanation displayed on the placard, artist Mat Collishaw presents Insilico at the Hilario Galguera Gallery in Madrid. There, we see a life-size animatronic deer slipping, sliding, and falling depending on the intensity of the insults directed at certain people on the social network "X." The monitor located behind the work displays the live feed from "X" and the code used to determine outcomes. This data is transmitted to the mechanisms that determine the deer's movements.
Insilico, by Mat Collishaw
Biology meets technology, and the achievement is admirable, but the English artist sends us a warning: How far will we go with experimentation? If climate change progresses and the planet is destroyed, will these be the deer of the future?
