Anicka Yi and the humanoid drones...

Anicka Yi (1971) encourages us to visit a gallery invaded by drones (obviously manned for this show) that appear to have organs. These balloons, which seem to carry an internal plasma, a circulatory system and tentacles, are located around us if they were looking at us (analyzing us maybe?). Their structure is indefinable, but it could be explained as a combination of terrestrial and aquatic forms, resulting in a new being that could well coexist with us, such as an evolved hybrid machine.

Our reactions vary: admiration for the workmanship of the pieces, amazement at their novelty and perhaps even fear for a future so less human. What is undeniable, however, is that an incredible perception of peace result of their constant dance.
