The line of Time...

4:57 p.m.

06/30/21 - When we approach a work by Liliana Porter (Argentina, 1941) we cannot believe that a line, or an installation with threads, or some delicate and tiny pieces have such an overwhelming power of evocation. Porter, like no one else, shows us the fragility in which we are immersed, represented by a world of ceramic dolls or destroyed pieces. And it is through those few resources that the artist raises questions about time, memory and mortality

For example, the artwork Knot presents a half-done embroidery, and we cannot help but wonder: What happened to who was embroidering? Did she/he take a break? Or maybe died? Those questions are constant in Porter's work... the fine line between life and death. That particularity of hers makes us constantly revolve around time and memory.

These works, along with a dozen other of them, are exhibited at the Caja Negra Gallery in Madrid. Most of them are series and there’s also several black and white photos of installations. They all have a particularity: they are tiny
