Roberto Laham: 1970-2016

A forty-year old bridge. Two periods in one. A pendulum that moves between signs on a plan to full spacial architecture that is born and lives out of thin air. That same air that in the 70s turned turnstiles and gigantic Chinese wheels, propelled by fireworks, or celebrated the crossing of high speed highways, is now filtered though colourful architecture of random perspective. The magic is always in Laham's hands.
César Bandin Ron.
14/07/16 - These words by César Bandin Ron were specially written for artist Ricardo Laham's exhibition "Realidad Interior/Exterior" at the Galería Jacques Martínez. There he displays, in complete harmony, his present works with others done in the 70s.

Realidad interior / exterior C4, by Ricardo Laham (2015)

Mathematic perfection mainly characterises Laham's works, who, after a detour through figuration, has returned to geometric abstraction. His paintings from the 70s are more severe in shape and color, just black and white. His works of today use all the color spectrum and have developed a particular eye-defying perspective.
Realidad interior / exterior C3, by Ricardo Laham (2015)

Realidad interior / exterior D4, by Ricardo Laham (2015)

Realidad interior / exterior C5, by Ricardo Laham (2015)

Lahm's skill to produce these structures is not casual, they imply an intense search for color and perfect shape. Although we live in the Era of Technology, Laham still sketches with pencils on paper, as he's been doing since the 70s.
