Meraviglie Dalle Marche II...

The exhibition "Meraviglie dalle Marche II" is now open at the Museo de Arte Decorativo and, among the masterpieces of italian religious art, we want to point out today one by Domenico Tintoretto (Venice, 1560-1635): a 2-mts-high Adoration of the Magi.
Adorazione dei Magi, by Domenico Tintoretto (1587)
Technique: oil on canvas
Domenico was the son of Jacopo Robusti, known as Tintoretto (Venice, 1518-1594) and brother of Marietta Robusti (Venice, 1560-1590), who also painted. The MNBA has a painting by Doménico's father and the resemblance is quite significant. It's a Nativity and was done in the last decade of his artistic career. In both works the indoor space is warmly illuminated and vivid colours were used in the clothing, which reveals who the father influenced his son.

Although he had a similar style, the son did not play a leading role in Art History as his father did, who, after five decades of work, marked an inflection point in the artistic scenario of his time. His boundless energy and the violent and expansive movement of his compositions caused a great impact in Venetian Classic art school, specially by the richness of his colour palette.
It's worth taking the opportunity to visit also the rest of the rooms of the former Palacio Errázuriz Alvear and admire a recently restored painting by El Greco (Jesus-Christ with the spine crown) on the main hall and, up the stairs, the rooms of the family, carefully preserved.
