This painting from 1936 belongs to Berni's early stages and shows a domestic moment. We are witnesses of the bond between mother and daughter. In its realism, the artist depicts the social desires of that time: middle-class workers made their children study in the Conservatory (dance, piano music), hoping they would be better off than their parents. To do so, women would help in the family economy by doing sewing work.
