Satirizing romanticism...

12:14 p.m.

15/04/24 - Each era had a different idea of romantic love: gallant love, passionate love, the sexy love of pop art and currently, with social networks, idealized love (coming from a need for consumerist happiness). At the Thyssen Museum in Madrid, Noemi Iglesias Barrios (Spain, 1987), in the exhibition Love Me Fast, analyzes and breaks down each type of expression of love with irony and a pinch of kitsch.

After touring the exhibition, we can clearly see the denunciation of the idealized love that the artist proposes. It is a symptom that is seen in today's society as a result of the interference in feelings of social networks: we try to find a true and happy relationship when in reality what we get is a toxic relationship contaminated by idealized virtuality.

The exhibition belongs to the 7th edition of the Kora cycle that displays artworks in this museum with a gender perspective.
