Introducing Jannis Kounellis...

06/14/18 - Jannis Kounellis was born in Greece in 1936 but moved to Italy. He died last year and a few months later his artwork "Untitled", of 1993, was exhibited at Documenta 14 in Kassel. The piece was made with natural and waste materials, such as coal, bags and metal, which gives it a rather industrial appearance. The aim, however, is to re-connect our consumerist society with Nature.
The two joined plates, among bags, remind us of Lucio Fontana's artworks. It's not wrong to think that the Argentine master could have influenced Kounellis since they both lived in Italy at the same time.
