Out of the mainstream...

11/02/17 - Saatchi Gallery in London is currently presenting "Iconoclasts, Art Out of the Mainstream". The exhibition displays a group of artists that break the mold and are far from what the art market expects, such as Tomas Mailaender, who provokes placing images in wrong places, or  Maurizio Anzeri, who, with a past as a fisherman, embroiders over old photographs, turning the portraits into abstract art. The same can be said of Matthew Chambers and his colorful explorations between the abstract and the figurative.

A Utility Of Immense Details, by Matthew Chambers (2011)

Every quality of a body resolves itself, by Matthew Chambers (2009)

A Day Of Which We Say, This Is The Day, by Matthew Chambers (2009)
Technique: acrylic and oil on canvas / Measures: 244 x 122 cm
The group of artists on display is diverse in their production, but they all co-habitate in a world in which the shapes and the no-shapes blend. The presence of these artists in such a prestigious gallery in London is enough to make them known in the art world, thus taking validity to the title of the exhibition: Out of the Mainstream.
