La Hora Americana...

A new temporary exhibition is now on display at the MNBA: "La Hora Americana". Curated by Roberto Amigo, this group of artworks, all of them done between 1910 and 1950, aims to demonstrate the presence of northern motives in Argentine art.
In the spotlight, there's a painting by Alfredo Guido (1892-1967) which clearly shows the Spanish-Native fusion. The artist was inspired by Eurindia, by writer Ricardo Rojas, to paint a nude surrounded by Northern fabrics and tropical fruits.

We could argue that the motifs in this painting resemble those of Gustav Klimt and, why not, the model looks much like Edouard Manet's Olympia. A play of similarities and differences.
