Woman with book, by José Fioravanti (1937)
Materials: Stone / Measures: 103 x 80 x 51 cm
Done with stone from France, sculpted directly, this seated woman (her crossed legs makes her look like an antique copyist) was identified like the wife of the artist. The Russian painter Ludmilla Feodorovna (1896-1973) met Fioravanti (Buenos Aires, 1896-1977) in Paris. She got married to him and arrived to Buenos Aires in 1928.
The wait (La Espera), by Francisco Reyes (1957)
Materials: Stone / Measures: 115 x 73 x 96 cm
In this other sculpture, done twenty years later, is similar to the previous one: a seated woman. However, The Wait shows certain signs of modernity, with a moderate naturalism and a bit hieratic.  A particular spirituality seems to emerge from her...
